Our Instructors
Professional Instruction
Every instructor at KALAHI ACADEMY is a professional.
KALAHI
ACADEMY instructor candidates attend an Instructor
Training Program which includes not only advanced
martial arts skills, but also topics such as: curriculum
development, teaching children, professional courtesy,
public speaking, and several other areas. This training
begins as soon as a student is invited to train as an
instructor, and continues for as long as they represent
Progressive Martial Arts.
Founder
/ Chief Instructor: Marlo (Lou) M. Faralan

With over
25 years in the martial arts as a student,
tournament/ring fight veteran, and trainer of champions,
Mr. Faralan is the ideal teacher, coach, and mentor of
the academy. He holds advanced Black Belt degrees in
several martial arts systems. In these arts, he has
earned the titles of Sensei (Japanese), SiGung
(Chinese),and Guro (Flipino) At the Academy, his
students affectionately address him as "Mr. Lou".
Coupling his vast martial arts experience with his
experience as an active duty military leader, Mr.
Faralan is considered by many as one of the most
knowledgeable, highly-skilled and well-rounded martial
artists in the country.
